Ch-appy Passover!

Today's the last day of vacation, and so while I'm still on technical blog hiatus, I have another quick article I'd like to share after it sparked much discussion around my seder table.

Enjoy!

Little Penguins

I decided to take my vacation off from my blog, so this isn't an official post. But here's a video that was too cute to ignore.

Brand Loyalty

I'm definitely all about brand loyalty. Though I'm open to change, once I find a brand I like I stick to it faithfully. It's helpful too- when you know what you like, it's much easier to navigate through the hundreds of options.

When it comes to technology, my two loves are blackberry and apple. (Could that be related to my love of fruit? Quite possibly.) Honestly though, my phone and laptop never leave my side.

I always head right for the Nars counter when I need a new make-up product. Aside from liking their colors and products, I've found that Nars cosmetics tend to be very gentle on my overly-sensitive skin. It gets an A+ all around! (photo credit).

While I'm on that topic, I'll add that Origins make-up remover is a personal favorite as well. It's oil-free, and removes all of my make-up without irritating my skin. Who knew that was possible?

Essie will always be my go-to nail polish brand. Essie colors are beautiful and classy, they apply easily, and they're high-quality products, unlike some of the two dollar colors I pick up from CVS. I currently have a row of my favorites, including bubble bath, french affair, nice is nice, lollipop and bordeaux, sitting on my bathroom counter. (photo credit)

Finally, I am a TOMS girl through and through, as displayed by my previous post. I live in these things. They're wonderful.

The Road Not Taken

I'll be blunt: I don't really like poetry. I often find it pretentious and contrived, it doesn't speak to me, and I certainly can't write it.

In my creative writing class, we begin every class in or current poetry unit by watching a clip from the Favorite Poem Project. This has made me think about what I would say if I were asked what my favorite poem is. Robert Frost's The Road Not Taken immediately comes to mind- of all the poems I've ever read in school and even out, this is the only one that both makes sense, speaks to me, and sticks in my mind.

So here's my favorite poem: The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Teach Me How To Dougie

This week, New York Magazine asks one of the most important questions- can you dougie? Because Oliver Stone can (ish).

Project Decorate

As I'm starting to think about decorating my dorm, I've been browsing different home improvement ideas. I know I won't be able to go crazy with it, but it'll be fun to collect some quirky knick-knacks and posters to make my room more personal and interesting.

To my future roommate, whoever you are: I hope you like color and pretty little shiny things. Otherwise, this could be interesting.
