Prom?

Yesterday, my boyfriend officially asked me to go to prom with him. When he dropped me off after a day at the ICA and Newbury St., my parents gave me instructions for a scavenger hunt and my first clue.

Each clue sent me to a different place around town where we had shared a moment or memory, and stationed at each location was an important person in my life.

Finally, after an hour of driving around, I arrived at our favorite park and was sent these text messages:

I walked to the bench in the picture, and waiting for me was a wonderful boy who asked: Will you go to prom with me?

(I said yes.)

On My Heels

That's my friend Hannah and I at the Louis Boston Fashion Blogger Party yesterday. It was so much fun, and I loved having the opportunity to dress up. The best part of my outfit was the shoes- a pair of five inch red pumps from Nine West that I rarely get to wear.

The night reminded me of how much I love wearing heels, and I was inspired to wear them today. But when I reached into my excessive shoe wardrobe for the perfect pair, I realized I didn't have many casual heels.

I've been checking out all my favorite shoe sites ever since, and have found some hot, casual heels that would look perfect with a summery dress or weekend outfit. Here are some of my favorites so far.

Tiny Dancer

I think this is what I used to look like when I first started dancing. Some days, I think I still do look like this.

Matter Much?

Lately, I've found myself thinking about what actually matters. Do we have to obsess over every small thing? And are things really worth all of the drama and misery?

I used to be the kind of person who got worked up over minor upsets unnecessarily, and who couldn't let anything go. But this past year, I've realized that there's really no use in all of that and, much to the enjoyment of a friend of mine who's been nagging me to chill out since forever, have learned how to pick my battles and drop irrelevant irks.

The problem is, people around me don't always see it the way I do. We all make mistakes and have disagreements with others, but I've found that many people tend to make mountains out of molehills?

I say that we stop this. We've got enough stress in our lives, the last thing we need is to add to that. So let's stop getting worked up over everything, and let ourselves relax! We shouldn't take everything so personally or internalize arguments we have with others, and shouldn't get so down all the time! Just take a deep breath, because the small bumps will pass and everything will go back to running smoothly.

And if all else fails, go check out the musical stylings of Rebecca Black.

Prom Hair

I have the dress, I have the shoes, and I have the bag. Now, I just need to figure out the perfect hairstyle.

Here are the important factors- one, I love my curls, and I adore having them bounce around me when I'm dancing. Plus, I don't like fancy updos or tight buns. Second, my dress has a beautiful, sweetheart-esque neckline with off-the-shoulder straps that I don't want to be covered by hair or jewelry.

My goal is to find a romantic, wispy, loose hairstyle that keeps my hair back but not necessarily up. I've been searching all around the internet for inspiration and found a few elements that I like. Here's a selection of what's inspiring me for prom.

Sunnies

When winter comes, it means time to put away the chunk of our wardrobe that only works for the summertime. However, I refuse to put away my sunglasses- it may be cold, but the sun is still shining and it can be blinding when it reflects off the snow.

That being said, every spring means a whole new wave of sunglass trends and styles that are always fun. This season, there are a few sunnies I'm definitely looking forward to seeing and sporting as it gets warmer.

Tickle My Fancy

One of the beauties of the internet is that I always manage to stumble across little things that make me smile. I've posted a few in the past (click here and here), but I've never done a full post about the hidden gems that made this week a little bit better.

So here they are, the things that tickled my fancy this week:

1) Fashionable tea from FredFlare.

2) CRAZY prom dresses that I hope no one will wear.

3) Mike Tyson is a vegan?

4) Adorable, quirky artwork created by Chad Sugg.

5) Kanye West is going fashionista.
