The Weather Game

One of the complicated parts of fall is how temperamental the weather can be. It's too warm to go into full bundle mode, but too cold to continue wearing flats. The trick to owning this time of year is layers, and pairing warmer layers with thin ones.

Here are some pieces I consider to be autumn staples:

Knee-Highs can easily be worn with boots or flats to keep you extra warm when wearing a dress or romper.

Blazers are one of my favorite pieces. They instantly boost any outfit, and warm you up without the use of a giant sweatshirt or fleece.

Jazzed up winter accessories are cute yet practical ways to stay warm. Fredflare.com is an arsenal of creative spins on traditional accessories.

Have fun with the colorful leaves, and stay warm!

Looks of Summer

First of all, I am soooo sorry it's taken so long for me to upload a post. With everything that's been going on, writing a blog post was on the back burner. Since it's been nagging at me, I decided to add a quick post until I can get into longer ones.

This summer, I was working at a counselor at an overnight camp in the middle of nowhere, so I wasn't particularly fashionable. Still, I've put together a photo montage from the summer that feature some of my nicer looks.

I'm Baa-aaack

Hey all!

I'm back from camp and Montauk, and now it's time to hop back into the swing of things. It's crazy here trying to get all my summer work done and organize my life back together in only a week so I don't have time to write a new blog post yet, but I promise I'll get it rolling once I get a second to breath... which is basically never. But I'll do my best.

Enjoy the sunshine (if it ever stops raining)!

Goodbye For Summer!

I'm leaving tomorrow morning, and just wanted to give a quick goodbye to everyone.

Thank you so much for reading my very new blog. I've really enjoyed it and can't wait to continue when I get back. For now, however, I have to sign off.

I hope you have an amazing summer, and I'll talk to you when I get back! Keep on wearing fabulous shoes :)

Spotlight: Tom's Shoes

So, you may have heard me mention TOMS Shoes once or twice recently, so I thought I'd dedicate a post to them.

TOMS Shoes is an organization started in 2006 by Blake Mycoskie. The movement, which targets the percentage of children who suffer from life-threatening diseases because they cannot afford shoes, is simple: for every pair of shoes purchased, TOMS will give one pair of shoes to a child in need, one-to-one.

After eyeing TOMS for a few months, I finally ordered myself a light yellow pair, and I must say that I love them. Not only do I know that my wearing them symbolizes that a formerly barefooted child is now wearing a similar pair, but I actually really like them as shoes.

They're casual and cute, available in a variety of colors and patterns, and are wicked comfortable. They even have arch supports- that's crazy. In a very good way. I think everyone should buy a pair of TOMS and wear them proudly.

In other news, ONE MORE DAY UNTIL CAMP!

Glorious, Glorious Summertime!

I am loving life right about now. Honestly! School's out, weather's beautiful, and I'm spending the few days I have left before going to camp (I'm going to be a counselor and CANNOT WAIT!) lazing around with random people and savoring the stress-free days.

With the summertime comes a whole new wardrobe, and I've loved refreshing my look almost as much as I've loved how I spend my days.

And a Headband on Top

My friend Hannah and I made a fashion mag for our Journalism class' final project called And a Headband on Top. We each contributed two pieces and had a joint photo shoot. We adore the outcome, and I wanted to display it here for you all to enjoy!

Wear Your Colors

Fact or Fiction: Shoes are meant to be kept neutral colors.

Fiction. Shoes can be the statement piece that offsets colors in an outfit or really stands out against a more neutral palette. Shoes come in all different shades and colors, so try to peek around a bit and find something you like!

Here are some suggestions that cover about every cover in the rainbow:

Red by Not Rated
These are so much fun, and a little rock and roll.

Orange by Nine West
T-Straps are always a funky choice.

Yellow by Nina Elijah
You can never go wrong with a peep toe, and the little floral touch is a sweet statement.

Green by Steve Madden
The bold color is a hot way to spice up a classic round-toe pump.

Blue by Chinese Laundry
A little sparkle for a night out.

Pink by Badgley Mischka
The hot slingback style paired with a delicate color and accessory is a fresh balance.

Purple by Romantic Soles
The dark color and slashed, ruffled foot are both feminine and vampy.

Metallic (Silver) by Badgley Mischka
A classic shoe with a modern touch.

Metallic (Gold) by Nine West
These are casual, funky, and bold.

Flatten it Out

As much as I love heels, there are many times in my life when flats are just much more realistic. But a good flat can be just as fab as a pump or pair of boots.

This is my personal taste, but I find the shape of flats to be a lot less versatile than that of heels. Translation: I like heels to be rounded toe, and find both peep toe and pointy toe flats to be really awkward. I've never seen a square toe flat, but I'm sure that wouldn't look too hot either. I also tend to shy away from kitten heels.

And it may just be the short girl complex, but I find that kitten heels, which look and sound like heels but give minimal lift, tend to spark the reaction of "she's wearing heels and is still that short?!"

But for any girl, short or tall, I think flats are a perfect choice for occasions like shopping trips, park visits, or honestly any normal day. You can never go wrong with a fabulous statement flat.
